Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression (mild®)

What is shopping cart syndrome

Do you have:

  • Pain or numbness in your lower back when standing?
  • Pain, numbness or tingling in your legs or buttocks when walking?
  • Relief when sitting or leaning forward?

If yes, you may want to consider getting evaluated at iSpine Clinics for lumbar spinal stenosis.

What is mild®

The minimally invasive mild® (Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression) procedure is a treatment designed to relieve pressure on the spinal nerves caused by lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS). LSS occurs when the spinal canal narrows, often due to age-related degeneration, leading to symptoms such as lower back pain, numbness, or weakness in the legs, and difficulty walking.

At iSpine Clinics, mild® is a short, outpatient treatment done under local anesthesia and mild sedation using specialized tools and imaging, we remove small amounts of excess bone and thickened ligament through an incision smaller than the size of baby aspirin. There are no implants, stitches or major disruption to surrounding tissue during the mild® procedure.

What to expect during a mild® Procedure

The mild® Procedure is designed to get you in and out and on your way. mild® does not require general anesthesia, implants, stitches, steroids, or opioids. The procedure can be performed using local anesthetic and light sedation. A specialized tool is used to access the spine and remove small pieces of the thickened ligament and bone that are narrowing the spinal canal. This decompresses the nerves, alleviating symptoms and improving mobility.
